This book is one that is full of white knuckled moments on every page. You are alongside Lyra from Oxford, to a gypsy boat to Svalbard. She sees an amazing array of creatures and people like the panserborne, a race of highly intelligent, armoured polar bears and Mrs Coulter a charming, sweet, influentional women with something to hide and her immensely powerful Unlce Asriel who can silence simply by being there.

This is definitely a book for those who love a good read.
